The consumer credit regime has seen huge changes in the last few years. The Consumer Credit Act 2006, and a host of new and amending regulations, has made this a complicated area of the law. As the credit crunch worsens, so the practical importance of this consumer protection legislation has never been more important. This intermediate level seminar aims to provide a reminder of the scope and extent of the regime, and to summarise the significant recent changes.

SPEAKER(S) BIOGRAPHY

Speaker: Dr Richard Lawson, Having previously taught law at the Universities of Auckland and Southampton he is now senior partner in Lawmark, the marketing law advisory service. He is a prolific author, having contributed volumes in the Atkins Court Forms series on consumer protection, consumer credit, sale of goods and financial services; he has written some dozen books on subjects including consumer credit, commercial contracts, exclusion clauses and unfair terms, the 10th edition of which he is just rewriting. He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars.
